Yoga In The Office

If you are unable to take out time from your busy schedule then don't worry here are some yoga exercise which you can do in your office only
Some postures that you can do right at your desk, at your computer, or in your office:

SEATED TWIST IN A CHAIR

Begin by sitting tall in your chair. Press your feet down on the floor or if they don't reach the floor let them rest on a book or a block. Feel your spine elongate.
Press your sitz bones down into the chair. Press the crown of your head up. And remember that your shoulders are down. You should feel tall in your chair. And you want to be relaxed. Breathe.
Next, take your left arm and bring it down across your body and place your hand on the outside of your right thigh. Bring your right arm straight up beside your right ear.
Then twist towards the right. Twist from the belly. You are like a barber pole twisting. And breathe. And breathe. Untwist slowly and relax.
Try it on the other side.


NECK STRETCH

A good neck stretch We hold lots of tension in our neck and shoulders.
Sit straight sitz bones pressing down, crown pressing up, shoulders down, feet flat and comfortable the normal good posture sitting position.
Let your right ear come down besides your right shoulder. The left side of your neck is stretching.
To increase the stretch, raise your right arm up and then bend it at the elbow. Let the right hand come to rest on the left ear. Don't pull your head down. Just let the weight of your hand increase the opening of the left side of your neck.
Breathe into the opening. Take 10 comfortable breaths.
Raise your arm back up and slowly bring your head back to center.
Do the same on the other side.
Then Let the chin come down towards the chest. Feel the stretch in the back of your neck. Look with your eyes into your own heart.
Bring your hands up and let them rest on the crown of your head so the added weight helps you get more stretch in the back of your neck.
Take 10 comfortable breaths again.
Bring your hands back to your lap or keyboard and let your head come up slowly.
And one more Pretend you are wearing an Elizabethan collar. Sit tall. Feel your spine elongating.
Raise your chin up, but don't let your head drop back. Imagine that you have that collar on and you have to raise your chin and head up before your head drop backwards. This helps to keep your cervical spine long and helps you from crunching those top 7 vertebrae.
Breathe into your expanded chest points. Take 10 comfortable breaths again.
Return your head to normal. Do a few loose head and neck rolls and some shoulder rolls.


EYE EXERCISES


Sit comfortably. Close your eyes tightly and then open them. Do this again. You can even scrunch your face when you close the eyes tightly.
Now, without moving your head, trace the face of a clock with your eyes. Let your eyes look at 12:00.
Watch the hands of the clock move to 1:00.
Keeping your head still, move your eyes to 2:00.
Consciously move your eyes around the clock to each hour.
When you get to 12:00, where you began, move your eyes back to 11:00 then 10:00, then 9:00, and so on
Now, close your eyes. Rub your hands together fast. Feel the heat build up in your hands. The palms of your hands are very warm. Now, bring those warm hands up and place them on your closed eyes. Let the healing heat from your hands soothe your eyes.


PICKING APPLES

Sit in your chair at your desk or computer.
Reach up with your right arm, overhead and pretend to pick an apple off a sort of low branch from a tree.
Bring your right arm back down and reach up with your left arm.
Inhale as you reach up and exhale as you bring your arm down.
Then go for a higher branch of the apple tree and pick some more apples inhale right arm up exhale right arm down nhale left arm up exhale left arm down.


CHEST OPENER

Sit forward on your chair.
Bring both hands behind you and bring them together (clasped).
Lift your chest up and stretch your arms down.
Hold that posture and breathe into the opening in your chest.
To get more of an opening, sit on the edge of your chair.
Exhale and lean forward, bringing your chest to (or towards) your thighs.
Breathe

Straighten your elbows while holding your hands.

Breathe
Bring your hands back down to rest on your back.
Release your hands. And carefully sit back up.


ANOTHER STRETCH

You can't do this sitting down, but it's quick and easy. I do this every couple of hours or so when I'm sitting at the computer for a long period of time:
Stand up with feet about 2 feet apart.
Clasp your hands behind your back with stiff arms.
Stretch and pull your hands up as high and far away from your back as possible.
Hold this for a while.
With your arms/hands still in this position and legs straight, not bent, bend forward at the waist until your head is as close to the floor as you can get it.

Hold this for a while.

Then slowly release your clasped hands and lower your arms until your hands touch the floor.
You can also hang like a "rag doll" for a while. I find this wonderful for releasing tension.

Therapy Procedure

  • Early morning, after you get up from bed, (without even brushing your teeth) drink 1.5 liters of water i.e., 5 to 6 glasses. Let us all know that ancient Indians termed this therapy as "Usha Paana Chikitsa" . You may wash your face thereafter.
  • Here it is very essential to note that nothing else, neither drinks nor solid food of any sort should be taken within 1 hour before and after drinking these 1.5 liters of water.
  • It is also to be strictly observed that no alcoholic drinks should be taken the previous night.
  • If required, boiled and filtered water may be used for this purpose.
  • It is difficult to drink 1.5 liters of water at one time, but you will get used to it gradually.
  • Initially, while practicing you may drink four glasses first and to balance two glasses after a gap of two minutes.
  • You may find the necessity to urinate 2 to 3 times within an hour, but it will become normal after quite some time.

The average pH of soft drinks, e.g. Coke, Pepsi is pH 3.4. This acidity is strong enough to dissolve teeth and bones! Our human body stops building bones at around the age of 30. After that it'll be dissolving about 8-18% of the bones each year through the urine, depending on the acidity of the food intake (acidity does not depend on the taste of the food, but on the ratio of potassium / calcium / magnesium / etc. to phosphorus).


All the dissolved calcium compounds accumulate in the arteries, veins, skin tissue, and organs. This affects the functioning of the kidney (kidney stones). Soft drinks do not have any nutritional value (in terms of vitamins and minerals). They have higher sugar content, higher acidity, and more additives such as preservatives and colourings.

Some people like to take cold soft drinks after each meal, guess what's the impact? Our body has an optimum temperature of 37 degrees for the functioning of digestive enzymes. The temperature of cold soft drinks is much less than 37, sometimes quite close to 0. This will lower the effectiveness of the enzymes and put stress on the digestive system, digesting less food. In fact the food gets fermented. The fermented food produce bad smelling gases, decays and forms toxins, which are absorbed in the intestines, get circulated in the blood and is delivered to the whole body. Honey and Cinnamon



It is found that mixture of Honey and Cinnamon cures most of the diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Ayurvedic as well as Yunani medicine have been using honey as a vital medicine for centuries. Scientists of today also accept honey as a Ram Ban (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases. Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of diseases. Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients also. A famous magazine named Weekly World News published in Canada dated 17 January, 95 has given a list of diseases that can be cured by Honey and Cinnamon as researched by western scientists.


The list is show below:

HEART DISEASES: Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, chappati, or other bread, instead of jelly and jam and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack. Also those who already had an attack, if they do this process daily, they are kept miles away from the next attack.

Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heartbeat. In America and Canada, various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as age the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalizes the arteries and veins.

INSECT BITES: Take one part honey to two parts of lukewarm water and add a small teaspoon of cinnamon powder, make a paste and massage it on the itching part of the body slowly. It is noticed that the pain recedes within a minute or two.

ARTHRITIS: Arthritis patients may take daily, morning and night, one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. If taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured.

In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week out of the 200 people so treated practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain.

HAIR LOSS: Those suffering from hair loss or baldness, may apply a paste of hot olive oil, one tablespoon of honey, one teaspoon of cinnamon powder before bath and keep it for approx. 15 min. and then wash the hair. It was found to be effective even if kept on for 5 minutes.

BLADDER INFECTIONS: Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water and drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder.

TOOTHACHE: Make a paste of one teaspoon of cinnamon powder and five teaspoons of honey and apply on the aching tooth. This may be applied 3 times a day till the tooth stops aching.

CHOLESTEROL: Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder
mixed in 16 ounces of tea water, given to a cholesterol patient, was found to
reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10% within 2 hours. As mentioned for arthritic patients, if taken 3 times a day, any Chronic cholesterol is cured. As per information received in the said journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complaints of cholesterol.

COLDS: Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon lukewarm honey with 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder daily for 3 days. This process will cure most chronic cough, cold and clear the sinuses.

INFERTILITY: Yunani and Ayurvedic Medicine have been using honey for thousands of years to strengthen the semen of men. If impotent men regularly take two tablespoon of honey before going to sleep, their problem will be solved.

In China, Japan and Far-East countries, women, who do not conceive and need to strengthen the uterus, have been taking cinnamon powder for centuries. Women who
cannot conceive may take a pinch of cinnamon powder in half teaspoon of honey
and apply it on the gums frequently throughout the day, so that it slowly mixes with the saliva and enters the body.

A couple in Maryland, USA, had no children for 14 years and had lost hope of having a child of their own. When told about this process, husband and wife started taking honey and cinnamon as stated above; the wife conceived after a few months and had twins at full term.

UPSET STOMACH: Honey taken with cinnamon powder cures stomachache and also clears stomach ulcers from the root.

Life spans also increases and even a 100 year old, starts performing the chores of a 20-year-old.

PIMPLES: Three tablespoons of Honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder paste. Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it next morning with warm water. If done daily for two weeks, it removes pimples from the root.

SKIN INFECTIONS: Applying honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts on the affected parts cures eczema, ringworm and all types of skin infections.

CANCER: Recent research in Japan and Australia has revealed that advanced cancer of the stomach and bones have been cured successfully. Patients suffering from these kinds of cancer should daily take one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder for one month 3 times a day.

Honey & Cinnamon - Weight Loss

Cinnamon and Honey formula for weight loss:

This should be prepared at night before going to bed.

1. Use 1 part cinnamon to 2 parts raw honey. 1/2 tsp cinnamon to 1 tsp honey is recommended but can use more or less as long as in the ratio of 1 to 2. --- so 1 tsp cinnamon to 2 tsp raw honey is ok too as an example.

2. Boil 1 cup...that is 8 oz of water.

3. Pour water over cinnamon and cover and let it steep for 1/2 hour..(30 minutes)

4. Add honey now that it has cooled. Never add honey when it is hot as the heat will destroy the enzymes and other nutrients in the raw honey.

5. Drink 1/2 of this directly before going to bed. The other 1/2 should be covered and refrigerated.

6. In the morning drink the other half that you refirgerated...but do not re-heat it...drink it cold or at room temp only.

Do not add anything else to this recipe. No lemon, no lime, no vinegar. It is not necessary to drink it more time in a day...it is only effective on an empty stomach and primarily at night.

This works for most people. Inches are lost before any measurement on the scales. This program will cause significant inches lost...but you will reach a plateau and may not lose anymore. Causes of cancer

1. Smoking is very often the main cause of cancer. It kills us silently and drains money from us quietly. There're 4,000 harmful chemicals (though in diluted form) in one stick of cigarette. Taking one puff is 600 times worst than inhaling the exhaust fumes from vehicles.

  • Barbecued Food

  • Overheating Meat
  • Food that is high in fat causes our bile to secrete acid that contains a chemical which is a promoter of cancer cells.
  • Food that contains preservatives, too much salt or nitrates (e.g. Canned food, Salted egg & veggies, sausages, etc.)
  • Overnight Rice (where Aflatoxin is accumulated)
  • Food that is low in fibre: Our body needs 25 gm of both soluble & insoluble fibre daily. We must drink at least 1.5 litres of plain water a day.
  • Contaminated Food (e.g. moulded bread causes our body to secrete toxins that may eventually lead to liver cancer in the long run. Never eat bread that is kept in room temperature for more than 2 days especially in a humid weather like Singapore 's.

3. Types of fat and which is the best?
  • Recommended for Health:-
  • Olive Oil - The best of all oils. It does not absorb in our body.
  • Fish Oil - Omega 3 (contained in NI's Circulytes) haspoly-unsaturated fat. It's good for our brain cells.
  • Peanut Oil - It contains Vitamin E. A small dosage is recommended only.

  • Vegetable Fat - Palm oil is worst than coconut oil. It is high in cholesterol and highly unsaturated.

4. Specific Food & Beverages
  • Egg when eaten too much can cause High Colon Cancer. Risk Ovary Cancer, Prostate Cancer.
  • Cabbage is highly recommended for health reason.
  • Tomato is best eaten raw with a bit of olive oil for better absorption. Other alternative is to take tomato sauce.
  • Coffee is good because it contains 2 anti-oxidants. Inhaling the coffee aroma for half each day is equivalent to eating two oranges a day. However, the residue of over-burned coffee is extremely bad for health. It can cause cancer.
  • Tea, as long as it is in its original tea leaves and not processed into BOH or Lipton packets, it is good for health. Tea contains 30 anti-oxidants. Recommended dosage is 4 cups a day.

Exercise and be fit
Have a balanced lifestyle. Exercise regularly.

Diet tips: A cruciferous vegetable, kale requires quick cooking - blanching or steaming - to preserve its nutrients. When you're done, save the nutrient-rich cooking liquid for soups or sauces. You can also use whole large leaves to wrap fillings or to layer in lasagna.

Diet tips: Go for freshness when picking potatoes - canned arieties contain less beta-carotene and vitamins C and B. Naturally sweet and creamy, mashed sweet potatoes can be enhanced with a little apple juice. Or whip the cooked tubers with orange zest or orange juice and season with cinnamon,nutmeg, and ginger.

GRAPEFRUIT
How it combats cancer: Grapefruits, like oranges and other citrus fruits,contain monoterpenes, believed to help prevent cancer by sweeping carcinogens out of the body. Some studies show that grapefruit can inhibit the proliferation of breast-cancer cells in vitro. It also contains vitamin C, beta-carotene, and folic acid.

Diet tips: Grapefruit can be sweetened with brown sugar or a drizzle of maple syrup or honey; vanilla extract, fresh mint, and almonds also accent the fruit's flavor. Grapefruit juice will give you the antioxidants and phytochemicals that fight cancer, but it's missing the fiber that fresh,whole grapefruit offers.

AVOCADO
How it combats cancer: Avocados are rich in glutathione, a powerful antioxidant that attacks free radicals in the body by blocking intestinal absorption of certain fats. Ounce for ounce, avocados also supply 60 percent more potassium than bananas and are a strong source of beta-carotene.
